Miami Kickers FC Lead Sunshine Conference After Win At Home Against Palm Beach United

South Florida WPSL Franchise Wins 3rd Straight Game

LogoPlantation, FL, June 16, 2009 – The Miami Kickers FC, the South Florida franchise of the Women's Premier Soccer League, had another strong performance this weekend topping local rivals Palm Beach United 1 – 0 at home on Sunday, June 14, 2009.   This 3rd consecutive win for the Miami Kickers FC puts them as the leader of the Southern Conference.

“This was potentially going to be a challenging week against Palm Beach United,  as we were missing some of our key players in Deidre Bass, Olivia Elias, and Stacy Payne,” said Marc Miceli, Head Coach / GM Miami Kickers FC.  “We were able to bring in some of our strong bench and younger players, who stepped up to lead the Kickers to their 3rd victory in a row,” added Miceli.

At forward, Tamara Kochen, veteran Miami Kickers FC player scored the game’s only goal in the first half, assisted by lead defender Rochelle Willis.  At defensive midfield young newcomer,  Jessica Brown, a high school senior at American Heritage, had to fill in this week for veteran Deidre Bass, and stepped up to the task by doing an excellent job of defending and distributing the ball. Consistent in defense again this week, veteran, Rochelle Willis, showed her unmatchable strength in the back, shutting down consistent pressure from Palm Beach United’s offensive attack.   Other consistent strong performances this week by the Miami Kickers FC in offense by April Perry, Natalie Simon, Joanna McCaughey, and Melony Poviones, as well as solid defensive strength in Alexis Hernandez, Kristin Chenault, and goalkeeper Chrissy Hy.

Congratulations to Tamara Kochen for being selected to this week’s WPSL Team of the Week, as well as April Perry and Samantha Wright for last week’s prestigious acknowledgement.

“I was again pleased with the performance by the team this past weekend, and look forward to this upcoming weekend’s home match against the Thomasville Dragons on Saturday, June 20th, 7pm.

All Miami Kickers FC home games are played at American Heritage School in Plantation.   Admittance is $8 for adults and $4 for children.   All club, recreational, and high school players wearing team shirts or jerseys will be admitted free.   Players are also welcome to meet the Miami Kickers FC players after each game or at their weekly practices.
