Harris didn't get to see many sites of the "Show Me State" on her first
visit to St. Louis. Instead, she was shown the way out.
"I hadn't done anything crazy, maybe saw some cool parks," she said. "We
just haven't been here that long."
Less than two months after Harris joined her first professional soccer team,
the St. Louis Athletica of the Women's Professional Soccer circuit folded
last Thursday because of a severe funding issue.
"It's a huge bummer; everyone's upset," said Harris, a first-round draft
pick after recording three NCAA championships as the University of North
"I was under the impression this was one of the league's most wealthiest
teams; then a month later, we're folding. A lot of things go on behind the
scenes. This is a professional sport, it happens. But if it's not run right,
it's going to take a shot."
