 Polk Advances

 The
Polk State College Vikings survived Friday with a 3-2 double-overtime
victory in the NJCAA women's soccer national championships in Tyler, Texas.
The Vikings got a goal from Erica Resendiz in the second overtime against
the Community College of Rhode Island to advance to Sunday's fifth-place
game.
With 1:55 left in the second overtime, the Resendiz took a corner and sent
it toward the box.
Ashley Palmer headed the ball. It hit the crossbar. Raquel Silveria headed
it. The ball hit the cross bar again. She took the rebound and kicked it in
for the win.
With the win the Vikings advance to the 5th place match against Hartford
at 9am Sunday morning. |
