Jensen Beach opens with win

If the last four days are any indication, Jensen Beach’s girls soccer team is going to score a lot of goals this season.

Aubrie Strohmenger broke a 2-all tie with a goal 25 minutes into the second half Tuesday as the Falcons defeated Wellington 4-2 in the regular-season opener for both teams at Jensen Beach.

Lauren Gorodetsky, Taylor Townsend and Kim McInnis added goals for Jensen Beach (1-0), which also scored four goals in preseason classic wins over Archbishop McCarthy and St. Andrew’s.

“We’ve always been able to score, but in the harder games, that’s been our weak area,” Jensen Beach coach Patty Morris said. “To have 12 goals in three good games is exciting.”

Wellington was a 6A regional semifinalist last season, Archbishop McCarthy was a 4A regional semifinalist and, St. Andrew’s was a 3A state semifinalist

Jensen Beach plays at John Carroll at 7 p.m. Wednesday. more
