No. 2 regional seed Florida soccer defeats Jacksonville 2-0 in NCAA Opening Round
The Gators celebrate Tessa Andujar’s first half goal in Florida’s 2-0 win versus Jacksonville in NCAA Opening Round play
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida soccer team defeated Jacksonville 2-0 in Saturday’s NCAA Opening Round action at the James G. Pressly Stadium.
Florida now advances to the NCAA Second Round to play Duke. The Blue Devils played Colorado College to a 1-1 tie Saturday and advanced with a 5-3 penalty kick advantage.
Florida’s first goal also was the first of the season for junior Tessa Andujar. Freshman Savannah Jordan, from the top of the box, one-touched the ball wide to Andujar on the left flank. She received the pass and let it take a couple of bounces toward the box as she sized up her options. The ball she sent from 20 yards scored upper slot at the far post in the 31st minute.
