Tampa Prep scores early, hangs on

Fourteen minutes into Wednesday’s Class 1A-Region 2 girls soccer quarterfinal, Tampa Prep junior Alexandra Daley had the Terrapins in good shape as she took a centering pass from Darla Harrison and drilled in her third goal against Bradenton Saint Stephen’s.

The hat trick gave the forward 19 on the season, but the Falcons didn’t go away and the night’s most important goal – a 70th-minute clean-up shot in the box — helped Tampa Prep hold on for a 4-2 win.

That goal, the first of the season from senior Tattiana Lamas, seemed to stun the Falcons and do what three goals couldn’t. After the match, Terrapins coach Cindy Schofield praised Lamas. more
