Despite that, the Mustangs (19-0-1) narrowly defeated Sunlake 1-0 on Tuesday, and, having already locked up the No. 1 seed for next week’s Class 3A-District 8 tournament, took home the Sunshine Athletic Conference title as well.
“I wanted a little more (out of the offense), but I didn’t want them to do too much,” Kukec said. “Perhaps players get ahead of themselves and don’t play as well as you’d expect them against certain teams, but they did enough to get the win.”
