INVERNESS — With the backdrop of almost constant rainfall, the Citrus Hurricane girls soccer team’s spirits were dampened Thursday night (along with their uniforms) as the visiting Vanguard Knights outdistanced the Lady ’Canes late in the second half to win 4-1.
A game that saw several standout saves by Citrus goalkeeper Lauren Heise (14 saves) also saw a few too many mistakes made while attempting to secure the ball after those saves. Those miscues led to key Vanguard goals Citrus was never able to recover from.
“Lauren had an amazing first half,” Citrus head coach Ian Feldt said of his goalkeeper. “She had a very good three quarters of the game (as well) and I was really happy (about that).” more
