Tritons Chosen Ninth in Preseason SSC Poll

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Eckerd College women’s soccer program will transition into a new season ranked ninth following the release of the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll by the league today.

Voting for the preseason poll is tabulated through a combined vote between the SSC head coaches and sports information directors.

Rollins College was narrowly picked to come out on top in the standings followed by Saint Leo University and the University of Tampa.

The Tritons have upped their win total in each year of head coach Danielle Fotopoulos‘ tenure so far, culminating with five during the 2011 campaign.

Going into Fotopoulos’ third season at the helm, the continued improvement will be on display as Eckerd prepares to host 11 matches at the Turley Athletic Complex this fall.

A new-look Eckerd squad will be on a quest to collect the program’s first win in conference play since 2006.

The Tritons debut the new season on the road in non-conference style, taking on Florida College on Tuesday, Sept. 4, in Temple Terrace at 6 p.m.

EC will welcome Johnson & Wales University for its home opener four days later on Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest. Live stats and video/audio will be available for the game with links to be posted at a later time more
